ShangriLlama near Oak Point Preserve - Plano

Social media got you riled? Forget the drama, meet a llama. Nestled in North East DFW, amid established older neighborhoods and grand new communities, is a ranch called ShangriLlama, an animal adventure company. And if you happen to live in the communities along the Oak Point Preserve in Plano, you may just find yourself watching a llama walk right outside your living room window.

As the weather warms up, the llama ranch offers you a chance to learn about llamas as you walk them through the Plano trail. The walks take place during the weekends and start at the ranch in Parker where you get to know each of the llamas. Then a quick 2-mile ride to Plano and you’re walk begins. A collection of connected trails weave through the preserve and exit out onto the Santa Fe Trail, a quaint little walking path that runs along the border of an Oak Point neighborhood. You’ll stop half way at the children’s park where you and your llama can take a rest under the shade of pecan trees. Once back at the ranch, you can take selfies with your favorite llama before you say goodbye. If you don’t like walking but still want to learn about these kooky characters, the ranch offers one-hour llama lessons in their temperature-controlled barn.

Discounts are offered through Groupon and LivingSocial vouchers.
