Deep Ellum Art Company

Deep Ellum Art Co. is a new (since September 2017) and unique mixed-use venue dedicated to live music, local art, a pretty serious draft beer and craft cocktail selection and - on occasion - street food/food trucks.

Founded by John LaRue (owner of So-Cal Tacos in Grapevine), Deep Ellum Art Co. aims to preserve the unique artistic elements of the Deep Ellum neighborhood. According to a statement by Mr. LaRue on their website, “The goal is to promote all the arts, be it music, culinary, sculpture, 2D, 3D, digital and more.”

I dropped in a while back because I heard they were going to have an “I Love the 90’s” evening, and I thought to myself “I like 90’s music!” Sadly, I got their early (hey, I’m old - I was in my 30’s in the 90’s!) so I was the first patron there. Happily, that gave me an opportunity to sample a couple of local brews and wander around exploring the space (both indoor and outdoor) as well as the visual arts on display. 

The patio particularly impressed me. I can imagine it being a “groovy” party place on sultry summer evenings, with throngs of people socializing and enjoying a band. I’m going to be keeping an eye on their events calendar, and I encourage you to do so as well!
