Dunston’s Steakhouse
5423 W. Lovers Lane, Dallas
Since 1955, when it opened as Gene’s, Dunston’s has been delighting Dallas area families with quality meals, friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere. While fads among Dallas steakhouses come and go, Dunston’s remains a welcome throwback to a less complicated time.
Dunston’s offers beef (both prime and choice grades), along with pork chops and fish. It’s all cooked over an indoor hickory fueled grill, complete with enough flash and sizzle to entertain as you walk by on your way to the salad bar.
I have to say, the self serve salad bar is my favorite part of Dunston’s. It’s not that it’s out of the ordinary, but something about the array of fresh veggies and topping available, loaded into an old-fashioned woven wood salad bowl really satisfies me!
The last time I was there, I had the pot roast Sunday special. It came with two sides, and I chose the salad bar (of course!) and green beans. The pot roast and green beans were just as grandma used to cook, so I was instantly transported back home!
Yes, Dallas has many steakhouses to choose from - many more expensive and many more “fine dining.” But Dunston’s is a classic, and there’s still plenty of room for that in the market. Take a relaxing trip back in time and try Dunston’s soon!
