Campuzano Mexican Food - Oak Lawn, Dallas!!

Campuzano has been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants since it opened several years ago. Although they have a “Tex-Mex” slant, their menu and atmosphere is a comfortable step up from run-of-the mill traditional.

My favorite dish is their “Mexican Guiso,” which is unlike any I’ve ever had! A bit more spicy (they’ll warn newbies) than most, with a thinner gravy (and less of it) and beef cut into finer pieces, it’s almost a hot picadillo. Fold a bit of this into one of their satisfying flour tortillas along with a smear of refried beans to hold it in place, and your mouth will think it’s in heaven!
Spicy food like this demands a good Margarita to cool that fire, and Campuzano has one of the best around. You can opt for a “top shelf” one, but I actually prefer the “house” frozen one. …or two (chuckle).

A warm decor and lively/raucous atmosphere round it all out. There’s a patio out back for lazy, warm weather mid-afternoons, and they have phone charger cables available along the back of the banquette seating!

Additionally, they have an outpost in Cedar Hill and another in Waxahachie. I’ll have to try these next.

Treat yourself to a meal at Campuzano and see what the buzz is all about!
