Catfish Plantation

Catfish Plantation, serving people and spirits with great tasting food!
The Catfish Plantation is located south of Dallas in a quaint town named Waxahachie, TX.
It is nestled in the middle of a residential neighborhood filled with gorgeous Victorian homes. The restaurant’s name is well suited, they do serve delicious Cajun catfish. On Thursday nights, it is all you can eat catfish and the price is well under $15. Believe me when I say it is well worth the drive.

The Chicken fried steak is good, but the hush puppies are superb. Don't try to eat healthy here. Though I did have the blackened catfish, and while I don't know if it's healthy, it is quite tasty.
The ambiance is what I drove nearly an hour to experience. I visited the restaurant in October, so it was decorated for the holiday.

This restaurant is in the original plantation house where a woman named Elizabeth was murdered in her wedding gown, on the day of her wedding. As the story was told to us, Elizabeth Anderson - the daughter of the farmer who built the house, is most often seen in her wedding dress. She was strangled in the house on the day of her wedding, around 1920, in the area that is now the ladies' restroom.

The murder was reportedly committed by her ex-boyfriend, or an old girlfriend of her husband-to-be.
Elizabeth's presence can be detected by the scent of roses, cold spots, or her spectral appearance. She likes to materialize by the bay window shown at the far right of this photo, looking out toward downtown Waxahachie, TX. She also likes to reach out and touch the diners in this room.

Elizabeth’s former beau, heartbroken, visited her on her wedding day to plead that she would not marry another man. It is believed that her answer did not please her past suitor. The result of his visit resulted in the loss of Elizabeth’s life minutes from her wedding ceremony to another man.
Customers often claim they feel creeped out in the bathroom area. Some say they feel a woman’s touch on their back. I did not experience a ghostly encounter, but I DID experience a great Cajun catfish plate.

Make your trip to Waxahachie and experience this one of a kind fun place. Please let me know if you meet Elizabeth! I an “dying” to see her wedding gown!
