Charles Kincaid's Grocery and Market was established September 5, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas. The grocery store had a full service meat market. O. R. Gentry, who had been the meat cutter since 1947, began cooking hamburgers in 1964 and in 1967, he purchased Kincaid's. Kincaid's Hamburgers began with one small grill bought for $25.00. Initially, 40-50 hamburgers were sold a day. Local high school students started going to Kincaid's for lunch. They told their parents how good the burgers were and word began to spread.
Business rapidly evolved from a grocery store to a hamburger grill. Most of the grocery items were removed and the shelves were cut down to countertop height to provide a place for customers to eat. Local newspapers began writing articles about Kincaid's and they were being featured on local news in spots that were filmed on site. A national panel of food editors and food critics chose Kincaid's hamburgers as the best burger in the USA, after eating in over 400 hamburger eateries nationwide.
Kincaid's hamburgers are made from the very best U.S.D.A Choice chuck available. The natural vegetarian-fed, hormone, antibiotic and preservative free beef is cut and ground fresh daily in the store. The beef is then handmade into patties weighing one-half pound each.
Kincaid's has retained that small burger shop feel throughout the
years. You still order at the counter and all the food comes out in
paper sacks. Seating is offered in the form of large picnic tables for a
more communal feeling. Last but not least, they have amazing
milkshakes! If you like their food you can hire Kincaid's to cater your
next event!
