Located just outside Love Field, Mockingbird Diner provides a new and tasty option for “home cooking” - with flair! The building is new, but looks like an old IHOP due to it’s steep vaulted interior ceilings, which provide a spacious and soothing Swedish modern feel.
I’ve only eaten there once, so I only have one photo of the food. I
was so satisfied with it I’m already looking forward to my next visit to
try other things on the menu (some of the breakfast items sound truly
amazing)!
I decided to try their Frito Pie, since I had a craving for some “homestyle Texas” cooking. It was just like I’d make at home (if I wasn’t so lazy!). It came with two sides, so naturally I chose the green bean casserole and pan sautéed squash. Yummy!
Mockingbird Diner has beer and wine, because what’s Frito Pie without a locally-brewed beer to wash it down?
It looks like they have a patio space, but I didn’t see any tables or chairs yet. I can imagine that this would be a nice place to enjoy their cooking and a beverage on a sultry summer evening.
Give Mockingbird Diner a try soon, and see if you don’t agree that it’s just what this part of town has been needing!
