Sometimes you just have a craving for a basic burger. You know the
kind I’m talking about - the kind your grandmother made. Simple ground
beef, a slice of good-ol’ American cheese, a plain bun and the standard
dressings (lettuce, pickle, tomato).
Well, if you’re near Frankfort Road and Coit Road when that craving hits, drop in to Sky Rocket Burgers. They’re a new, small, independent place tucked away in a strip mall.
I decided on a basic burger. The quarter pound of beef tasted very fresh and was piping hot and tasty! It also had a “fall apart” quality that made it seem as if the patty had been formed by hand in the back - not shipped frozen by a commercial supplier. Wow! The only concession to fanciness I agreed to was a dollop of their “special sauce,” which the VERY nice lady behind the counter explained was basically Thousand Island Dressing. I have to say, this was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time!
I also tried the french fries, and they too were just excellently prepared basic fries. Piping hot, and seeming as if they’d been cut from whole potatoes in the back (I saw the potato skins on the ends!). The portion was enough for two normal people to share, so overeating (yes, I did wolf all them down!) was my only regret.
I definitely will be back to Sky Rocket Burgers, and I urge you to give them a try soon!
