Mario’s - Oak Lawn

Mario’s has provided good Mexican & Salvadoran food (and excellent margaritas!) for the past several years, and during that time has developed a devoted following. Mario Sabino, the owner, used to work at another locally-famous restaurant until he decided to strike out on his own - and we’re glad he did!

What set’s Mario’s apart from other Mexican restaurant is the inclusion of Salvadorean food items. You can nosh on pupusas, tamals (not to be confused with tamales!), Yucca, Plantain and more!
One of my favorite dishes is the Lomita de Puerco; grilled marinated pork tenderloin on a bed of chile/ancho sauce with yucca, fried plantain (yum!) along with black beans with rice. If you’re “on a diet,” they also have good salads and a tasty grilled Tilapia plate!

The service is friendly and prompt, the prices are reasonable, the food and drinks are excellent… what more could you want? Expand your culinary horizons a bit and try Mario’s soon!
