The other day I was in the north DFW Airport area and hungry. A chain restaurant just didn’t seem like it would satisfy my cravings that day - then I realized that the Coppell Deli made a mean patty melt, and I thought to myself, “self, it’s been TOO LONG since you’ve had a delicious patty melt!
The Coppell Deli is a bright, clean, simple place hearing back to simpler times. It’s located in Coppells tiny original “downtown.”
The Coppell Deli is well-known for their “Stubbs Special” (named for former Dallas Cowboy Danny Stubbs). It consists of what seems like an inch-thick layer of scrambled eggs, along with a large sausage patty, numerous bacon strips and a slice of cheese, all served between two slices of white-bread toast.
Although this sounded like a delicious indulgence, I was there on a mission. After placing my order with the friendly staff, it was only a few minutes before I was presented with my prize: a freshly-prepared, piping hot patty melt accompanied by tater tots! I dug in immediately, and was not disappointed!
