The Blind Butcher

A mid-week supper reminded me of how charming this place is. Dark, warm and with just the right amount of background noise, it is clearly a “pub” in the best sense of the term.

If you couldn’t guess by the name, The Blind Butcher specializes in “craft” meat products. They cure all their meats and grind all their sausages in-house, and strive for the freshest, most local ingredients.
The results speak for themselves. They have to, because your mouth will be otherwise occupied! On this night, I opted for the “simple” Butchers Burger. Served promptly by the friendly waitress, both it and the accompanying fries were piping hot. French fries are generally pretty forgettable, but these were WAY above average! Nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the in. Not one survived my ravenous hunger!

Don’t think for a moment that I’m going to forget about that “simple” hamburger. It too, was perfectly cooked to my order (medium), and the beef was also wonderfully seasoned. I’d been a little put off by the “fancy” dressing listed on the menu, but lo and behold, they perfectly accentuated the hamburger meat!

My companion had the "Banger and Mash" and still can't quit raving about how "sublime" the banger was!

The Blind Butcher also has a wide assortment of beers (both bottle and draft), with local, national craft and international choices. Wine and cocktails are also available, and I would recommend trying one of their “craft” cocktail recipes.

Although they have a meat display case near the back, sadly they don't sell the raw meat retail, so you can't try to recreate their recipes yourself!
